Elvis Presley 1956 "Richmond - June 30"

The calm before the storm. It's June 30, 1956, backstage at the Mosque Theatre in Richmond, just before two explosive concerts. Pastel gave me the opportunity to recreate the hushed atmosphere of the dressing rooms. I wanted to capture the palpable concentration of the 21-year-old artist, that moment of grace and silence before the madness of the audience took over.
