On March 1, 1970, at the press conference at the Astroworld Hotel in Houston, a mature and charismatic Elvis was revealed. I used the richness of pastel to capture the subtlety of his expressions as he faced the journalists. The blending of colors allows me to detach his face from the surrounding effervescence, to present the portrait of an artist in full control of his art and his image.
